Student Voice
Student Voice

Each month Mr. Sweeney meets with a group of nominated students for what he refers to as an Eagle's Nest meeting. The primary focus of these meetings is to provide students the opportunity to have their voice heard specific to a school-related topic. Something new I'm trying this year is to extend the discussion beyond the Eagle's Nest and give all students at Barton the chance to be heard. Any Barton student can record a short video clip of themselves answering our monthly Eagle's Nest question.

CHFD/CHPS Fire Safety Survey for Grades 1, 3, 5, and 6
CHFD/CHPS Fire Safety Survey for Grades 1, 3, 5, and 6

The Cherry Hill Fire Department has been a partner with the Cherry Hill School District providing fire safety education for many years. In 2014 we presented a new program entitled "Safety Smart". Safety Smart is a school-based curriculum that links teachers with community safety experts and parents. Safety Smart is being taught in grades 1, 3, 5 and 6 as part of the Physical/Health Education Program.

The goal of the Safety Smart Program is not only to teach students valuable safety skills, but also to have the students put these skills to use outside of the school environment. A valuable tool to help us evaluate the effectiveness of the program is the parent survey. We ask parents/guardians to please take a few minutes to complete an online Parent Survey so we can determine how, if at all, the instruction is being put to use.

Student Recognition - April Eagle's Nest

The following students were selected by their grade level team as representatives for the April gathering of the Eagle's Nest. This group offered their thoughts and perspectives on the topic of finishing the school year strong, specifically, what they can do as individuals to ensure this happens. We thank them for being such a strong and passionate voice at Barton!
